The Fuel For School!

Hi, Everyone! It seems like yesterday when our kids were celebrating the last days at school before their summer vacation was about to start.  They were full of energy to spend the summer doing whatever they want. Now, with school starting, we need a way to keep their batteries full. For our family, it means the FUEL WE ALL TAKE IN!

This fuel as we call it is part of the basic three habits that are essential for every school kid, Activity, A Good Nights Sleep and Good Nutrition.
 But how can you keep them eating healthy at school?
It’s Easy! Make it fun and enjoyable with some simple and basic tips I have shared below:
– When it comes to a good healthy snack, it should have at least, 1 portion of protein, to keep bones and muscles nourished, 1 portion of Carbohydrates as source of energy, Water or natural juices to keep them hydrated all the time.
– You can find these portions of  Protein with Dairy products such as Yogurt, Milk, and Cheese. There are also proteins in Peanuts, Almonds, and Cashews, which are also are excellent fuel for the brain ! (Make sure not to over-do the portion sizes)
–  You can find Carbohydrates in things like Whole Wheat Bread, Cookies, Cereal, Granola B or with a portion of any fruits and veggies like Apples, Pears, Peaches, Grapes, Celery, Carrots, even Green or Red Pepper, Cucumber, sliced into small thin pieces, can be great snacks.
– Fresh Juices are great in natural in thermic bottles to stay cold until it’s time for snack. You can also freeze them and they will gradually melt as the day goes by.
– Make Snacks fun and colorful – What can make it fun and colorful – Fruits, like Mangoes, Strawberries, Kiwis, Blackberries, Grapes they are all easy to store and quick to prepare. Ask your kids to help the night before as a daily routine to prepare, pack into the plastic containers and store them in the fridge.
– Dried Cranberries, Dates, Raisins are a hit in any kids snack, which you can take advantage and make it a healthy snack!
– Wheat Bread, with Unsweetened Peanut Butter and Strawberry/ Raspberry/Grape or any Natural Jelly is a hit as well!
– You can use cookie fun format cutters to make your kids sandwich look fun!
–  Dedicate a Snack Pack (container) only for your kids snacks. Make sure it is rigid and well zipped to keep the food away from other materials.  Make sure to clean them every single day.Have 2 or 3 different sizes so you can accommodate different kinds of option snacks
